Confessions of a Freelance Writer

I figure there's not much work happening today so I thought it would be a nice time to post something fun.

The Honest Scrap Award was given to me and several others by Carma Dutra and I'm supposed to pass the award on to seven more people. The challenge is for me to reveal ten honest-to-goodness secrets about myself--things most people don't know about me. So, here goes:

1. I hate cooking and cleaning house, but I enjoy home decorating.
2. I've never been to college; I earned my degree online and by correspondence.
3. I love the smell of burning white sage and Nag Champa incense.
4. My Camry is ten years old and has accumulated 153,000 miles. Her name is Cammy.
5. I have a chocolate Labrador named Java.
6. I have six grand kids and three more on the way.
7. I'm 49 years old.
8. Drinking tequila makes me impossible to deal with (more so than usual) and VERY grouchy.
9. My cholesterol level is too high.
10. I'm addicted to Twitter.

I've tagged several people I find interesting and asked them to confess their flaws. Those lucky participants are:

1. Tim Stewart
2. Linnet Woods
3. Carl David
4. Tee Morris
5. Malcolm Campbell
6. Linda Davenport
7. Bill Mann

What a pal. And how come you left out the secret about the time you woke up in Two Egg, Florida after one too many Magaritas?

Probably because I don't remember waking up!

In my neck of the woods, any award is a good award...though secrets are usually kept that way for a reason, Pandora...are you sure you want to open this box? Ok...you asked for it!

Sorting through top secret files for the least incriminating 10 to share...

Hi Yvonne,

Here is my list, in no order other than how they occurred. Interesting exercise. And I managed to avoid the really scary stuff. ;^) Thanks for including me.

Blessings,

Bill

1. I’m a big fan of “Asterix and Obelisk”, a European comic book I discovered in the 70s.
2. I’ve written over a thousand songs. Not all of them good.
3. I lived in Europe for two and a half years in the 70s. Mostly in Amsterdam.
4. I was a competitive swimmer when I was growing up. My dad was my coach.
5. I got married for the first (and only) time at the age of 47. (We’re still married, almost 14 years later!)
6. I’m very sensitive to alcohol. I can’t even drink a non-alcoholic beer (less than .5% alcohol) without getting a buzz. ;^)
7. I used to have a beard down to my navel. And hair to match. ;^)
8. I got malaria when I was in Kenya in 1977. And was treated in a maternity hospital. ;^)
9. I once lived in a pyramid in Kodiak, Alaska.
10. I love curried oatmeal.

It has taken me some time to answer this challenge, but before I dive back into a project I'm working on launching by Monday, here goes...

1. I hate writing non-fiction tech books and articles.

2. I still watch Saturday morning cartoons.

3. I would love to write a thriller, but the idea hasn't hit me yet.

4. There are days when I am terrified of the world and that people will discover that vulnerability.

5. The fear in #4 is what drives me.

6. I cannot watch BAND OF BROTHERS as "the big reveal" at the end turns me into an emotional wreck.

7. The podcast "Give Us a Minute" podfaded because I was not strong enough. I feel like I let Joe down.

8. If offered to join Bear Grylls on one of his survivalist challenges, I would do it in a heartbeat. That is living!

9. I love the euphoria when drunk...but I regret my behavior attached with it.

10. I wonder if the stage misses me as much as I miss it.

There is no need for me to say "I'm a Twitter Addict." That is WELL KNOWN! :D
