Meet Michelle McPeters

Michelle McPeters, also known to family and friends as Missy, is a writer, lyricist, songwriter, and mom to three amazing children.

Born in North Carolina to a mother who was a writer and father who was a part-time musician, Michelle was brought into the world of words and music at a very young age.

As a child, Missy moved with her family to Tennessee where she continued her love for music and writing. She wrote her first song by the time she was ten; and by age 15, she knew that she wanted a career that allowed her to make her living by using her pen.

While staying home as a full-time mom for fifteen years, Missy immersed herself and her children into books and music. She was signed on as a writer member at ASCAP Nashville in 2004. McPeters has had the pleasure of working with some of the nicest, most influential, and talented musicians and songwriters in Nashville. Today, she has over 100 songs in her catalog. Her letters to the editor have been published in the Tennessean newspaper along with a guest article about the debate of SSA in our schools.

With Cherokee Indian and Irish ancestry known for masterful storytelling, Missy draws upon her heritage as a source for her literary writing. In late 2008, she began her first book, Ella, which is a fantasy faerie series that brings the two cultures together.

Ms. McPeters’ hobbies include antiquing, studying music and world history, reading, photography, and creating Celtic calligraphy. She calls herself a simple person, having dreams of health and happiness for her three children.

Missy resides in Old Hickory, Tennessee about fifteen minutes from downtown Nashville. Although she has traveled much and even plans on making a dream trip to Ireland someday, she says Nashville is her heart’s home.

Missy loves a challenge and considers herself a constant learner. A quote by one of her favorite writers, Ernest Hemingway, sums up her life as she embarks upon a new adventure as a freelance writer, “Courage is grace under pressure.” Missy is being mentored by Yvonne Perry—editor, ghostwriter, and owner of Writers in the Sky Creative Writing Services.
