Writers in the Sky Podcast, produced by Writers in the Sky Creative Writing Services, is an educational show about the craft and business of writing. Today's show features and interview with the Book Marketing Maven Dana Lynn Smith. Dana shares some excellent information excerpted from her e-books that help authors with online book marketing.

Dana specializes in developing book marketing plans for nonfiction books, and she is the author of the Savvy Book Marketer Guides series of e-books for authors and publishers. Dana has a degree in marketing and 15 years of publishing experience.

Dana's first book, The Savvy Book Marketer's Guide to Selling Your Book to Libraries, helps authors and publishers understand how libraries make purchasing decisions and how to market to them and work through re-sellers. The book also has contact information for the 100 largest public and 100 largest academic libraries in the U.S.

The genealogy of the Bates family of Cherokee County, Georgia is traced back to Charlton Bates and Nancy Kelly (O'Kelly) Bates, who are first mentioned living in South Carolina in 1812. Through DNA testing, we know that our family has a ancestor blood-related to James Shockley Bates.

The descending lineage mentioned in this book are David Ward and Nancy Martin, Thomas F. Bates and Sarah Elizabeth Ward, Savannah Bates and Alexander Newton Smith, and Lemuel Harris Bates and Lillian Margaret Smith.

Many of the children and extended family members of these family heads are mentioned in this book, and more than 200 photos document the journey.

Of broader interest, the book contains some history of the Cherokee and Hall Counties of Georgia as remembered by the Bates family who lived in the area.
