Today's WITS Podcast Introduces a New Young Heroine

Author M. Carol Coffey joins team member Sarah Moore today to discuss her new release Zoe Lucky and the Green Gables' Mystery. Zoe Lucky is a teenage girl who moves into a new neighborhood and quickly meets an interesting assortment of characters. She also discovers that someone is up to no good and that her own life may be in danger. Zoe calls on her new crush, a wise professor, and several birds with their own insight to solve the mystery that surrounds her. Zoe is a strong heroine who is certain to become a favorite of young readers everywhere.


During the conversation, Carol will share why it was so important to her to incorporate much of her hometown of Pittsburgh into the storyline. As a lifelong bird lover and member of several organizations related to bird preservation and education, Carol also will discuss how two species of birds play crucial roles in unlocking the Green Gables' Mystery. And, listeners will learn why Carol thinks that a realistic female character is needed in the fiction available for preteen and teen readers today.
