What is a podcast?

Podcasts are pre-recorded teleclasses, seminars or audio workshops which are offered through iTunes.com or other services where people go to find music, movies, audio books, etc. podcasts can be saved on an mp3 player, an iPod, on a computer or any devise that plays mp3 files, but unlike music and video downloads most podcasts are free.

Once an Internet searcher finds a podcast they enjoy, they may subscribe to that particular RSS (real simple syndication) feed. Doing so will automatically send them an email every time a new file is uploaded to that podcast. The recipient may respond by going to the web to download the new program.

Podcasts have become popular entertainment and educational tools for busy people. As an educational tool for people who want to learn more about the craft and business of writing, publishing and book publicity, Writers in the Sky Podcast is an excellent choice. We offer interviews with authors and writers, as well as the latest news about books on the market, publishing methods and marketing techniques. Occasionally, a teleclass may be longer, but most of our classes are recorded in 15-minute segments.people listen to while traveling, cleaning the house, waxing the car, exercising, etc.

Subscribe to Writers in the Sky RSS feed at http://feeds.feedburner.com/WritersInTheSky. By selecting one of the chicklets on the page you will automatically be sent an email when a new show has been uploaded.

To download the show directly from itunes.com, go to http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=192160101. You must have iTunes software loaded on your computer. You can download the software at no cost on http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
